Ystervarkies

"Romany Creams"

350 g butter
1 cup caster sugar
2 tbsp. icing sugar
1 egg
4 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 tsp baking powder
2 & ½ cups flour
¾ cup of cocoa powder
1 & ½ cup desiccated coconut

FILLING

200 g plain chocolate

  • Preheat the oven to 180ËšC.
  • Place the butter and the sugar in a large bowl and beat together until creamy, then beat in the egg, oil and vanilla essence. Add all the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Work the dough together to form a soft ball.
  • Place the dough on a floured surface and put a piece of cling wrap or baking paper on top. Roll out to 1 cm thickness and scrape the top of the dough with a fork. Cut shapes with a round cookie cutter and transfer to a greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes. Leave to cool for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Melt the chocolate in a double boiler and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Spread the chocolate over the undersides of half of the biscuits and top with the remaining biscuits.

Chocolate Fudge Squares (Munchies/Hedgehogs/Marie Fudge Biscuit squares)

200g Gebreekte Marie beskuitjies
500g Gesifte versiersuiker
1 eier
250g Margarien
75ml Gesifte kakao

Klits eier met vanilla
Smelt margarien oor baie lae hitte tot net gesmelt, voeg kakao, versiersuiker, geklitste eier by.
Verwyder van plaat en gooi krummel beskuitjies by, meng goed
Giet in gesmeerde bak, sit in yskas en laat goed koud word
Sny in blokkies

Suurlemoen vla tert

  • 1 pak Tennis beskuitjies
  • 1 blik Kondensmelk
  • 100 ml Suurlemoen sap
  • 500 ml dik vla
  • Pak n laag tennisbeskuitjies in a glas bak
  • Gooi al vla oor die beskuitjies en maak gelyk
  • Pak nog n laag tennis beskuitjies bo oor vla
  • Meng kondesnmeld en suurlemoensap en gooi dit bo oor die boonste beskuitjie laag
  • Laat stol en versier met koekiekrummels

Cremora Tert

  • 500g cremora
  • 250 ml kookwater
  • 2 blikke kondensmelk
  • 250 ml suurlemoensap
  • 1 pakkie tennisbeskuitjies
  • Meng cremora en kookwater.
  • Laat dit koud word in yskas.
  • Klits die kondensmelk en suurlemoensap saam.
  • Voeg cremora mengsel by en klits tot styf.
  • Pak tennis beskuitjies in bak.
  • Gooi mengsel oor die tennis beskuitjies en strooi “flake” bo-oor.

Take note that the baking powder in Germany is single acting. The baking powder is South Africa is double acting. You can also read about this on the above-mentioned page.

BEER BREAD ALLA YVETTE

Set the oven to 180 ℃

* 1Kg cake flour (405)
* 10ml salt
* 1 T/s Herbs (Kreuter der Provence)
* 15ml sugar
* 100g Butter
* 2 sachet dry yeast
* 1 Cup of cheese (or more if you want)
* 125ml lukewarm milk
* 500ml Beer

1. Sift together flour, salt, sugar, herbs, cheese. Sprinkle yeast over.
2. Heat butter and beer to lukewarm, add to dry ingredients.
3. Heat milk to lukewarm, add to dry ingredients.
4. Mix till dough forms, knead for 5-10 min ****(very important) till smooth, If sticky dust with more flour.
5. Place in bowl, rub with olive oil, cover and leave in warm place. (Oven 40C/dough proof) +- 10 min
6. Knock back, knead swiftly, divide into balls or leave as single piece of dough.
7. Place in greased pan, cover and leave in warm place (Oven 40C/dough proof) to rise for 30 min.
8. Up into oven (lower half)…. Bake and enjoy.

Bake time : 35 min

Instant Beer Bread (123 Bread)

Information from members: it would be better with self raising flour not all purpose flour or add a tsp of baking powder per cup of flour used 🙂 or Add 1/2 teaspoon baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda per cup of flour.

1 Blik Kondensmelk
3 groot eiers
1/2 koppie suurlemoensap (ek vat bietjie meer – seker so 3 groot eetlepels ekstra)
1/2 koppie strooisuiker (het bietjie minder gebruik)
So ongeveer 200 g Frischkäse / Maaskaas / Quark, wat ookal sodat dit minder soet is.

Tertkors van jou keuse – hier het ek ongeveer 100g van die volgraan Leibniz koekies fyngedruk
en met ongeveer 50 g gesmelte botter gemeng.

Oond: 160°C

Skei die eiers.
Klits eierwitte tot baie styf en voeg strooisuiker geleidelik by.
Meng eiergele, voeg kondensmelk, maaskaas en suurlemoensap by en klits ongeveer 1
min.
Plaas bo-op kors en skep lepelsvol meringue op eiermengsel.
Bak vir ongeveer 25 minute.
